A load cell is a transducer used to generate an electrical signal that is directly proportional to the force being measured. Various types of load cells include hydraulic load cells, pneumatic load cells, and strain gauge load cells.
This is a standard load cell for measuring weights up to 5 kg. The output of the load cell is in millivolts and cannot be measured directly with a microcontroller. Therefore, a high resolution ADC or instrumentation amplifier is required to make the load cell output readable by the microcontroller.
