The SIM800A QuadBandGSM / GPRS module with RS232 interface is a complete LGA (Land Grid Array) type quadband GSM / GPRS solution that can be incorporated into customer applications. SIM800A supports quad band 850/900/1800 / 1900MHz and can send voice, SMS and data information with low power consumption.
Small size to meet slim and compact custom design requirements. The integrated AT enables complete cost savings and faster time to market for customer applications. The
SIM800A modem features a SIM800A GSM chip and RS232 interface, making it easy to connect from USB to a computer or laptop via a serial port, or from RS232 to a microcontroller via a TTL converter.
After connecting the SIM800A modem through the USB-RS232 port, you need to find the appropriate COM port in the device manager of the USB-serial adapter.
You can then open Putty or other terminal software and connect to this COM port at the default baud rate of 9600 for this modem. Once the serial connection is opened through the computer or microcontroller, you can start sending AT commands. When you send an AT command such as "AT \ r", the SIM800A modem returns "OK" or any other response, depending on the command sent.
