Drip irrigation, sometimes referred to as drip irrigation, drips water onto the ground at a very low rate (220 liters / hour) from a system of small diameter plastic pipes with outlets called emitters or drippers. Because water is applied close to the plant, only part of the soil is moistened where the roots are growing, as opposed to surface irrigation or sprinkler irrigation, which wets the entire soil profile. Drip irrigation is more frequently applied than other methods (usually every 13 days), which provides a very favorable high moisture content for the soil for plant growth.
