The mining industry is known worldwide for its highly hazardous working conditions. Technological advances in extraction techniques to increase production have raised additional safety concerns in this industry. Previous studies in the safety field have found that the majority of accidents in this hazardous industry are caused by human error. India's coal production from April 2025 to October 2025 was 379.59 million tons (MT). Coal is the mainstay of India's energy sector. A study by the National Foundation of India found that millions of Indians are directly or indirectly dependent on the coal economy. It was highlighted that over 1.3 million Indians are employed in coal mining, transport, energy, sponge iron, steel and brick sectors. Miners face many dangers, from ventilation problems, flooding, gas explosions, roof collapse, mine transport, sudden collapses and mine flooding, spontaneous combustion to suboptimal evacuation routes. . There is no exact solution that can predict and avoid these risks before they occur, And for decades, mine operators have worked to prevent catastrophic accidents leading to the death, injury, or ill health of miners.

Solution | project idea
- Detecting all hazardous gas in mining area (methiane, butane, co2 level, oxygen level and in the case of abnormal environment sending alert
- Detecting the direct ecg of worker and sending the data to the iot application dashboard if any abnormal activity in the pulse got detected
- Measuring the body temperature of worker and temperature of surrounding and again sending the alert in abnormal conditions
- Emergency button for any hazardous situation such as land slide or water filling in mining area
- Local network protocol (child parent router and transceiver)
To solve this issue we have made a local network based iot wearable jacket for miners which has the embedded sensors in it so that if any problem occurs for the miner, the alert will be send to iot based application dashboard and data can be analyzed there. Our jacket will be able to monitor Pollution with pollution monitoring sensors such as mq2 sensor which helps in detecting the underground methane and butane gas, mq6 sensor for unknown CH4 or LPG gas detecting in the mining site area if any underground pipe get damaged and gas leakage. And mq9 sensor for detecting extensive carbon dioxide and mq135 sensor for detecting if the oxygen level is less than required.
Second sensor we are involving is ECG heart rate monitoring sensor, if the miner faces less oxygen or anxiety it directly flashes on ecg waves so if any abnormal changes in heart rates happen it will alert in the application.
Third most important sensor we are adding is the emergency button, if any sudden emergency happens like water filling or cave block due to land slide then one can send the alert with the special emergency button and help can be sent by the management team.
Fourth important feature we are adding is sending the temperature of the surrounding of the miner and body temperature of the mine worker himself.
Our system will work on local network connection where every device will connect to local wifi network and that parent router will connect to head office and miners jacket.
Components Used : esp32, jacket, mq2 sensor, mq6 sensor, ECG sensor, dht11 temperature sensor, lm35 body temperature sensor, power supply module.
Advantages :
Miners safety and health can be monitored and during any abnormal activity in the surrounding can be detected and if any health related symptom detected in the worker then also the alerts will be send to administration so that required action can be taken out.
2. School Water Monitoring System Using IOT
Iot system that can measure the water quality in the water tank of school so that the school management and administration can know the drinkability of water of school tank.

Objective: to provide the clean and drinkable water to the village students and government school students and making easily implementable ecosystem for measuring the water quality and provide to the government and school administration, as it is right to get the good food and drinkable water to the student, we are giving the little share by our idea.

It automatically cleans the solar panel of dust and suppresses the generation of voltage due to foaming dust on the panel, but since cleaning takes a lot of water and time and effort, we proposed a system that requires less water for cleaning and can be monitored on phone via application.

Dumper overweighting is the biggest issue in the mining sector and other loading sectors due to some profit agencies overload the vehicle and leads to high damage or accident.

In the mining sites the dealers overweight the dumper vehicle, also the transport trucks also gets overweight and it leads to heavy accidents due to little profit. To stop this we fit the load cell on the dumper to measure the weight of how much load is put over the dumper, after measuring the weight it will show if the weight is overload and send the alert to the responsible person on the iot dashboard. This can reduce the chances of accidents.
